90th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mint

Design: Issued to commemorate the 90th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mint, this five coin set features the same reverse designs as the original 1908 coins, except for the double date 1908-1998. This set is issued in matte or "antique" finish. The matte set does not carry the country of origin, "Canada".

Proof Coins
The term "proof" refers to the coin's finish. The Mint recognizes a proof coin as “a specially made coin distinguished by sharpness of detail, usually with a brilliant mirror-like surface.” Proof coins are struck at least twice and treated with special dies which make their features more defined, detailed, and glossy.
